Adam Spencer Wins EVI: Community Cover Contest

Extreme Vocal Institute held its first "Cover Contest" in the Extreme Vocal Institute: Community Facebook group over the past two weeks. The cover song of choice was "Sleep is for the Dead" by Enterprise Earth. Contestants were judged on tone, breath control, clarity, range, and timing. On Tuesday, David Benites selected the two winners; Adam Spencer in first place and Red Miller in second.

Check out Spencer's cover below:

Spencer fronts Manchester, New Hampshire-based deathcore band Wretched Tongues, you can check them out on Facebook, Instagram, and Bandcamp. Their music is also available to stream on all major platforms.

Each of the winners will receive an EVI t-shirt and Spencer also gets a free entry to a vocal workshop of his choice.

Missed this last contest? Don't worry, we are going to host plenty more but you have to be a member of the EVI: Community Facebook group to participate!

Vocal Cover: Enterprise Earth "Sleep is for the Dead"

Luciferous by Enterprise Earth is one of our favorite records that has been released in 2019 thus far. So, naturally, David had to cover something off of it. The song chosen is "Sleep is for the Dead". You can check out the full cover here:

"Malaise" - Aversed (Live at Alchemy)

Anyone who says women are incapable of doing metal vocals has never heard Haydee Irizarry. Irizarry and her band Aversed took the stage on Sunday April 14, 2019 at Alchemy in Providence, RI and turned many ignorant nonbelievers into fans. We were fortunate enough to get some footage of the set, showcasing Irizarry's vocal range both with extreme vocals and her impressive transitions between metal vocals and singing.

Check out the full live video we got of their song "Malaise"!
